I received a contact from a family in California who required immediate assistance with two severely burned female puppies. They were obviously distressed, and their helplessness was evident over the phone. Something with the heating device caused the structure to catch fire. This family did everything they could to save two small canines, but they were severely burned to the third degree on more than sixty percent of their bodies.
Dr. Komin and the Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital personnel are on the case! Each patient has been bathed, medicated, and is currently having necrotic tissue removed. Small dosages of pain medication are being administered with great care to the puppies to alleviate their suffering as much as possible. Natalia is cared for and adored by the women at the Thousand Oaks emergency clinic. This is our daughter, Phoenix. She appeared to be in the worst shape when she arrived, but she appears to be recovering the quickest.
The puppies are doing very well on day 12. They are no longer receiving intravenous fluids and are dining well on their own. They continue to receive injections for pain and antibiotics, but they are voluntarily ingesting their nutrients, which is fantastic! Natalia is off the IV and feeding normally, but she has a mild case of pneumonia!
Day 15: We reached our objective! Unbelievable effort by a global community of burned-dog-lovers. They still have a ways to go, but let’s celebrate by watching them perform; have fun!
Day 20: The ladies had yet another positive start to the day. They have changed their attire and are preparing for hyperbaric treatment. They spend approximately two hours, three times per day in the chamber, and the results are evident. The development of scar tissue and new tissue in the females is comparable to months of treatment. Include the personnel of the Animal Emergency Hospital in your thoughts.
Day 31: Phoenix and Natalia continue to be phenomenal! Working on their press release so we can inform the public! Their story is too compelling not to be told to as many individuals as possible.
Share the story of our two little survivors with the world. From sixty to seventy-five percent third-degree burns and a slim chance of survival to state-of-the-art care by the world’s foremost burn doctor, a meaningful future, and the opportunity to give back. Natalia and Phoenix received treatments in the new hyperbaric chamber yesterday, and Dr. Grossman dressed their wounds and declared them healthy.
Phoenix’s wounds have nearly fully recovered. Natty is making excellent progress, but she was initially in a slightly worse position. 45th day of the pet emergency Thousand Oaks hospital with a filled heart! Natty has a wound in the shape of a spider web that is diminishing daily and doesn’t even tingle! Natalia is now a canine, which is all that we could have asked for.
Day 60: How joyful Natalia is now! She has made a full recovery and is prepared to move into their eternal home with Phoenix. Day 100: Today is an extremely joyful day. Both Natalia and Phoenix were adopted by a new, joyful family. They desire a happy existence after having endured much suffering.
