Feral Dog Found Living in Sewer Drain Gets a Second Chance at Life
A sick stray dog was living in a sewer drain on the outskirts of Athens, alone and scared. He was feral and had never been around people, making it difficult for rescuers to catch him. However, the team at Save a Greek Stray refused to give up on him and eventually caught him with the help of a tranquilizer.
The dog, now named Monty, was found to be suffering from an old hind leg fracture, leishmaniasis, mange, ticks, and fleas. Despite his poor condition, Monty made a full recovery, but remained feral and untrusting of humans.
Since arriving at the shelter, Monty has been kept in his kennel, suspicious and lonely. Despite attempts from volunteers and trainers to rehabilitate him, Monty remained untamed until Alexandros, his trainer, started working with him. With Alexandros’ help,
Monty finally left his kennel, but his progress is limited as life in the shelter is not conducive to his rehabilitation. Monty needs a forever home with someone willing to take on the challenge of helping him become a companion dog.
The team at Save a Greek Stray believes in miracles, and they hope that someone will open their home to Monty and give him a second chance at life. Watch Monty’s inspiring story in the video below.
In another heartwarming story, an obese dog named Arbuckle was found dumped near a farm, barely able to walk due to his weight. He weighed 116 lbs and suffered from hypothyroidism, causing his body to puff up like a balloon. After being taken in by “A Purposeful Rescue” in LA, Arbuckle received treatment and was able to walk again.
Actress Jane Lynch and her partner adopted Arbuckle, and he became an inspiration to many as he embarked on a weight loss journey. Sadly, Arbuckle passed away recently, but his life inspired people to donate $5000 to the shelter in his memory.
