Abandoned and Frail Dog Rescued After Giving Birth by a Creek
In a heart-wrenching incident, a dog was found lying weak and famished by a creek, after giving birth to a small puppy. The incident was reported to the Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary on October 7, 2022.
The rescue team responded quickly to the call as the location was not far from the shelter. Upon arrival, they found the female dog in a heartbreaking condition, too weak and thin to even walk. It was clear that she needed immediate medical attention to recover from the state of near-starvation.
Despite being rescued, the dog was still terrified and showed signs of severe illness. She tested positive for heartworm, low platelets, and red blood cell count. As a precautionary measure, she must be isolated for two weeks to ensure that she is free from rabies.
The dog has been named Olivia, and her journey towards recovery has just begun. We urge everyone to pray for her quick recovery and share her story in hopes that she finds a loving family to adopt her. Let’s spread the word and help Olivia find a forever home!
