Abandoned and Weak: A Mother Dog’s Heartbreaking Story
Olivia’s story began on a bleak note. After giving birth, she was left to fend for herself by a creek, weak and emaciated. Fortunately, on 7 Oct 2022, the Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary received a report about her condition and quickly dispatched rescue volunteers to the scene.
Despite being just a short distance away from the shelter, Olivia was in critical condition and desperately needed help. The volunteers found her lying in the creek, unable to walk or move.
It was a heart-wrenching sight, but they refused to give up on her. Despite her fragile state and fear of humans, they managed to rescue her and bring her to the shelter.
However, the news was not all good. Olivia tested positive for heartworm and had low platelets and red-blood cell count. To ensure she is rabies-free, she must undergo 14 days of isolation and treatment.
