This unfortunate dog was abandoned in front of a pet food store. He continued to weep and was unable to stand or walk. We had no notion what had occurred in his past. Clearly, something was awry, and we needed to assist. We took him to the veterinarian for examination. Surprisingly, the veterinarian reported no broken bones. The veterinarian suspected that his fearfulness was due to a traumatic experience.
The veterinarian administered tranquilizing medication to help him relax. Despite the medication, he continued to weep and was unable to stand. Concerned, we decided to take him for an X-ray. The veterinarian informed him that the X-ray revealed no fractured bones. He may have suffered a spinal cord injury, affecting his nerves.
The veterinarian prescribed medication to alleviate his spinal cord’s discomfort and inflammation. He is called Lucky. The path was difficult, but Lucky was a fighter. Today, he made significant progress. He attempted to lift his head and feed on his own. Today he can consume solid food, so we gave him paste. Fortunately, he has a healthy appetite and is cooperative.
We do not know what occurred during his last injection. The injection site is festering and abscessed. Today he was able to rise independently, but he still cannot walk. He is doing quite well! He consumes well and is also adept at taking medication. The abscess is still leaking pus; daily cleaning was required.
The positive news is that he can now move all of his legs. He requires additional time before he can walk again. He recently bathed, and now it is time for sunbathing. The abscess has dried and is beginning to recover. He was eventually able to walk again.
When he ran for the first time after his injury, it was a moment of pure delight. We were so fortunate to have been a part of Lucky’s voyage, as he was a true survivor. Currently, Lucky is a content and healthy canine. He resides with us permanently, and we adore him more than anything.
Today, we took him for his vaccination. He was so terrified of the injections that he even urinated in his cage. We are so fortunate to have him in our lives; he will always be our little miracle.
